The Reality of a Computer Services Tax in MD

Visual Data Systems provides web site graphic design, programming, computer, networking and on-line marketing services to a variety of Real Estate, Not-for-Profit and Hospitality companies located throughout the US.  We have been a Maryland corporation for 15 years and currently employ 20 with growth projection expected to 25 in the next 12 months.

Our company has bootstrapped itself to be successful and profitable, but we don't have the luxury of large margins or the ability to pass on a 6% tax.  We work in a highly competitive market that will cause our customers to look to our out-of-state competitors when faced with a MD sales tax.  Our company has operations in North Carolina that we will plan to transfer our growth plans if this law is enforced.  Maryland will be losing high paying jobs to another State.  I'm not sure that is the Maryland Legislaturs's intention, but a reality.
